Day 4: Going Home

Last night Benjamin was allowed to stay in our room... with a portable version of that wretched monitor. Apparently, the nurses don't really know how to work it, and the alarm levels were set very high, so it was going off constantly. The levels were higher than they had been while he was in the NICU! Paul called them on it and asked them to change it and we never heard back. He finally figured it out and changed it so we could get some sleep.

It was heaven to sleep with Benjamin in our room, on our chests, and next to us in bed. We are finally starting to feel like parents! He is sure a snacker tho! He ate every hour for like 10 minutes. Now we have had a taste of why people don't sleep with an infant around!

Of course we had to dress him up in some of the wonderful clothes people made us. It looks like he is ready for snow!

We took Benjamin back to the nursery today for his first bath, handprints, and footprints. Paul had the honors of bathing while I videoed and took a few snapshots. Then we had a nice nurse help us get his prints for a wall hanging and also for his birth certificate. My what long fingers and toes this man has! (I don't know if you have noticed, but we have already nicknamed Benjamin as The Man. When he stretches, he looks like an old geezer and in general, he just seems like a very old soul.)

In my opinion tho, we couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough! I was packed and bugging them to discharge us by 10. We finally got out of there by noon. Home!
